Learn To Play Rock Guitar!, Issue #009
December 23, 2010
Yo!

Brrr! The snow's flying here in Ohio, so I guess it's Winter for real. That's good news, though. Lot's of time indoors for playing guitar!

For all you folks in the US (and anyone else that likes to celebrate), hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Seems like the whole month of December is holiday time, with Hanukah and Christmas. Hope you have all been good boys and girls - Happy Holidays to all!

I started jamming with a group of guys after work. It's been a lot of fun. A little nerve-wracking for me, since it was probably close to 25 years since I had played guitar in front of anyone. But I lived through it and actually enjoyed myself. The beer helped, too! To bad we have to wait a couple months before we can get together again…

I want to give you a heads-up. I'm in the process of changing my newsletter hosting provider, so if you get an email asking you to re-confirm that you want to receive this newsletter, nothing freaky is going on. The new hosting provider just wants to make sure you're not getting spammed, so it's really a measure to protect you. Thanks for your understanding!

There's lot's of good stuff brewing for 2011. I will start to send a new email course in January to really expand your guitar chord repertoire. I have high aspirations to attempt to send a chord a day, but we'll see how that goes - maybe every other or third day…

The idea is to help you grow out of the standard open and barre chords so you can discover more colorful ways to play songs. Have you ever been trying to figure out a song's chord progression, and you have the basics down, but some of the chords don't sound quite right? Well as you learn new chords and chord structures, you'll start to pick out what chord the artist is actually using to give the progression a unique sound or feel.

This should also help you hear different nuances of chords more easily. I think it's going to be a lot of fun once we get rolling! With the list of chords I have right now, it should only take about three years to get through them all…

Hope you enjoy them!

Again, everyone have a great Holiday!

Peace~
