Taylor Custom Giveaway

OK, here's a very special guitar contest - the chance to win a custom Taylor Grand Symphony guitar. I found this contest reading through the March 2010 issue of Guitar Player. This acoustic guitar comes out of Taylor's Build to Order program and was designed by Guitar Player Magazine journalist Art Thompson.

Art had the opportunity to spend two days in San Diego, California at Taylor Guitars to take part in the Build to Order program with an international group of journalists. In the end, they were each able to design their own guitar, choosing from 40 different options to make a unique instrument.

Of course, the purpose behind the exercise was to get the news out to the world about the Build to Order program, Taylor's custom shop for guitarists that can afford this kind of thing. Through the program, you have control over every aspect of the build, choosing the woods, inlays, hardware, finish and electronics.

The guitar Art designed incorporates Madagascar rosewood back and sides, and a redwood top that was cut from a log that had been submerged in a river for 150 years. It has a very understated beauty, with clean lines and grain patterns. What's nice about this contest is you get to throw your name into the hat to win this beauty.
