Online Acoustic Guitar Lessons

So you want some online acoustic guitar lessons? Well, you've come to the right place! Here on Learn-to-play-rock-guitar.com, I want to help you get on the road to reaching your guitar-playing goals.

Maybe you're thinking, "Hey, this is a site about rock guitar," which makes you think it's automatically about electric guitars. While it's true rock bands mainly use electric guitars in their recordings, they also have acoustic guitars to write music with and occasionally perform with.

Besides, the only real difference between an acoustic and electric is you don't need an amplifier to hear an acoustic guitar. Of course, if you're performing, you'll need a pickup and amp for your acoustic guitar anyway! A guitar is a guitar - acoustic or electric, you learn to play the same way using these online acoustic guitar lessons.

It seems like the current trend for bands today is to go on an "acoustic" promotional tour. Usually it's a couple members from the band doing smaller clubs and promotional interviews with radio stations.

Are you more into Country, Blues, Folk or Jazz? The main focus of this site is rock, but when you're just starting out, we're all on the same level. You need to learn how to take care of your new-found love, how to tune your baby, handle her oh so gently so she responds to you… Yea, sorry, I'm a guy. Whadda ya want?

I cover all this and more. Don't be turned off by the thought that rock may just sound like noise to you or you just don't get anything out of it. We can all learn something from each other. You may surprise yourself. After all, guitars are all pretty much the same. It's just the music we choose to draw out of them that is different.

Rock is heavily based in blues - that's where rock got its start. But rock and roll pulls from all styles of music, including classical. And there are many rock musicians that end up working in other styles. Or start off playing something other than rock...

For example, Craig Chaquico started off as lead guitarist for Jefferson Starship playing electric guitar. Now he plays jazz, a lot of the time on an acoustic/electric guitar (acoustic guitar with pickup built in). Matt Nathanson plays a couple traditional acoustic guitars with pickups added at the sound hole. Heck, look at Poison and Extreme with major hits like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "More Than Words" respectively, played on acoustic guitars.

Learn-to-play-rock-guitar.com is all about helping the new guitarist start to play their guitar. The Internet is great for online acoustic guitar lessons - this is just one site in thousands, and anyone learning guitar can get something out of this site.

Whether you want to learn some chord, or the basic tuning of your guitar, it's here. Guitar maintenance, chord progressions, even pointers to guitar tabs.
